Renewable Energy Initiatives at Murthyfarms.

1} Environmental Friendly Bio-Gas unit:- 

This farm is even used for providing demonstration cum training to the farmers. This farm provides unique opportunities for the farmers/ students to learn the innovative agriculture & renewable energy practices. A Biogas plant of 2m3 Capacity has been set up in the farm, in order to reduce global-warming by using methane as cooking gas as well as using of manure as an organic fertilizer. The families working and staying on the farm premises are using this Bio-gas as fuel for cooking. By providing free cooking gas, burning of fire wood has been completely stopped and at the same time removed/reduced the drudgery of women farm labourers, which is one of the main objectives of promoters of the farm. 

Families working in the Farm are provided with proper kitchen and Bio-Gas connection for cooking

2} Solar Lighting Systems:- 

Solar street lights as well as solar home lighting systems has been installed in the farm. Presently there are 5 street lights and a home lighting system installed in the farm. A solar water heater has been installed and used for fulfilling the requirement of hot-water for cleaning the milking, chilling, packing and other dairy apparatus/equipment.

3) Roof-water harvesting and Farm-Pond:

Water from all the building roofs is collected in to a recharge-pit with technically proper filtration before recharging the well. Hence, 100% roof water is collected and recharged into the well. Murthy Farms have also dug a farm pond, where all the run-off water is collected and stored. In this manner, rain water is fully captured and either recharged or conserved through farm-pond.
