
Background:
While successfully operating integrated vegetable farming, Murthys’ started a small dairy of 4 animals during 2013 with following objectives:

They love animals, hence for the purpose of serving cows
(Goseva),

They wanted to demonstrate to the visiting and farmers of the adjacent villages’ proper animal care and dairy management.

Demonstrate the use of cow dung, cow urine (Gomutra), Mrudamrut (Mixture of cow dung, cow urine, jaggery & any flour), which is an excellent fertilizer for any crop and organic farming.

Develop a proper schedule for dairy animals.

Demonstrate mechanised milking.
Objectives:
Murthys’ have started the organic milk production with the following objectives:

Animal wellbeing, provide only organic feed to all the animals.

Produce high quality, Organic milk, which is very healthy.

Supply high quality organic whole milk to the health conscious customers.

Provide best quality service to the customers.

Support and hand-hold fellow farmers’ who are willing to join Murthyfarms, at its terms, in producing high quality organic milk and help them in enhancing their income and improve their lifestyle.
Organic Milk Production:
Having gained first-hand experience of dairy activity/business, now Murthys have established a dairy with 60 animals. Got it Organic Certified from PGS-India through Biocert International Pvt. Ltd, Indore, a Government of India, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation accredited Organic certification agency along with 6 associate farmers. New, innovative cowshed has been constructed. Following are the innovations adopted by the Dairy farm:

Two-tier cow shed with fodder storage on the first level. This keeps the cowshed cool.

24x7 water availability to cows, which keeps them healthy.

Use of rubber cow-mats and cow bed, which keeps the comfortable and free from slipping.

Use of integrated milking technique with the use of Delavel-Sweden milking machine.

Use of desert coolers, foggers and air curtains to maintain moderate temperature inside the cowshed during summer months.

Maintaining utmost cleanness keeps all cows in good health and helps in production of milk under hygienic condition.

Use of Hydroponic technology for the production of green fodder without use of soil which is an organic fodder cultivation method.

Use of Azolla, natural algae as animal fodder. This increases the milk production as well as fat content.

In-house, organically grown fodder, organically approved calcium and mineral supplements.

No use of any type of hormones for enhancing milk yield. No use of antibiotics at any stage.
